Tennessee Valley Canoe Club and The Gear Closet present the 13th annual Paddling Film Festival at Rock/Creek Paddlesports and Outlet in Chattanooga at 7:30 p.m. The event is a bring your own chair event.

May 27
The Harrison Ruritan Club Open Car Show. 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Tennessee Riverpark, 4301 Amnicola Highway. Spectator admission is free. Pre-registration is $20, day of show is $25.  Registration is from 8 a.m.-noon.  Judging begins at noon.  Dash plates go to the first 150 registered.  Door prizes will be given. Sunday morning church service starts at 11 a.m.  Food is available for purchase.  Proceeds benefit various community service projects. Event will be held rain or shine. June 9
The Chattanooga Zoo will host its 3rd annual kid’s summer event, the Ice Cream Safari from 4-7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children (ages 3-12). Chattanooga Zoo members receive 50 percent off ticket price and all children ages 2 and under are free. Ice Cream Safari event tickets and wristbands are now available for purchase online.  If not sold out, wristbands will be sold the day of the event for $8 each.

June 10
24th annual Hot Rod Power Tour stops at Chattanooga State Community College. Classic cars and hot rods travel city to city, over 1,300 miles. The seven-day, seven-city journey is expected to bring together more than 6,000 vehicles and 100,000-plus spectators, June 9-15. hotrod.com/events. Feature a midway of mobile display rigs from more than 50 performance manufacturers and aftermarket specialists. The main stage will feature entertainment, celebrities, games, and dozens of giveaways.

June 14-19
With a commitment to celebrating the contributions of artists of African descent, the inaugural Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts and Ideas will premiere with a slate of work showcasing the disciplines of music, dance, theatre, visual arts, film and literature during a week-long celebration at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, Coolidge Park, and other locations around the community. BlackArtsAndIdeasFest.com
