TVA Celebrates National Public Lands Day With Several Local Events

The Tennessee Valley Authority invites the public to join in celebrating National Public Lands Day. TVA and its partners are hosting several events in the Chattanooga area over the next two weekends aimed at keeping these public lands and lakes clean and beautiful for recreation users in the Tennessee Valley. National Public Lands Day Events:

· Family Hike at Little Cedar Mountain on Nickajack Lake: Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. CDT. Meet at the Little Cedar Mountain Small Wild Area near the Shellmound Campground and Nickajack Dam for a guided hike with Bob Butters of Outdoor Chattanooga.

· 50th Anniversary of the Hiwassee Scenic River: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 1-9 p.m. at the Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic Rivers State Park for a celebration of the Hiwassee Scenic River. There will be a guided hike on the John Muir Trail and a float on the Hiwassee River.
 

· Tennessee River Rescue: Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Visit tennesseeriverescue.org for more information.

Charles Pipkens, Lajeromeney Brown Arrested In Series Of Violent Home Invasions In Which Robbers Posed As Police

Chattanooga Police have arrested Charles Dijon Pipkens and Lajeromeney Brown in connection with a series of violent home invasions in which the suspects told their victims they were Chattanooga Police officers.. Fairyland PTO Says It Can't Get Help From Walker County Schools And Board For Cafeteria Woes
