Chattanooga Police Department Has Cadet Graduation Ceremony Aug. 2

The Chattanooga Police Department will host the graduation of Academy Class 2018-2 on Aug. 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. 

The ceremony will be held at Calvary Chapel Chattanooga.

The CPD said it "strives to increase diversity in our agency because we are dedicated in furthering our efforts to have a police force that resembles the community we serve."

Authorities Say Hixson Man Shot And Killed His 15-Year-Old Son On Saturday Night; Also Killed Family Dog

Authorities said a Hixson man shot and killed his 15-year-old son on Saturday night. A report says Mike McElrath, 46, who was found naked at a neighbor's house, also killed the family dog. Gary Douglas, 25, was shot early Sunday morning, and Dewayne Stanley, 24, was arrested.   The Chattanooga Police Department responded at approximately  3 a.m.   to a person shot on the 4700 block of Murray Lake Lane.
