Erlanger Named 7th Busiest ER In The Nation By Becker's Hospital Review

Tuesday, July 17, 2018

In its annual listing of busiest emergency rooms in the United States, Becker’s Hospital Review listed the Erlanger Health System as number seven in “The 13 Hospitals with the most ER Visits”.

Last fiscal year, the Erlanger Health System treated more than 140,621 patients in its emergency rooms alone.

Erlanger provides trauma care as the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. Children’s Hospital at Erlanger operates the region’s only pediatric emergency department, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and tertiary care Level IV neonatal ICU providing the highest level of care to premature and sick infants.

“Our busy emergency rooms reflect a nationwide trend in overcrowding and overutilization of emergency services for non-emergent situations and providing primary care for the uninsured and/or underinsured,” said Jeneen Carman, DNP, associate vice president of Emergency Services at Erlanger Health System.

She said, “The staff at our Level I Trauma Center and Emergency Department work tirelessly to care for every patient no matter their injury or complaint. As Chattanooga continues to grow and attract more businesses we expect our volume to continue to grow and will continuously strive to meet demand.”

Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... Roy Exum: Dear Faux Pelini

It has been my experience that of all the tribes and herds of different people on earth, sports writers are among the funniest people of all. Oh, there isn’t anything real sexy about Villanova beating Georgetown or a baseball player hitting for the cycle. Now, if a player hits a single, double, triple and homer in that order, that’s “a natural cycle,” and that is kind of fun to ... (click for more)
