Over 3,000 fans were on hand at AT&T Saturday night on a hot, steamy night to witness the Lookouts  5-2 loss against Montgomery.

In the defeat Brent Rooker extended his MiLB record home on-base streak to 42 games with a single.

Lookouts starter Omar Bencomo (5-4) went 4 2/3 innings giving up four runs on eight hits.

Reliever Andrew Vasquez shined in relief tonight, going 2 1/3 hitless innings with four strikeouts to bring his ERA to 1.29 on the year.

Mitchell Kranson hit his first home run of the year in the bottom of the second with the team down one run. The blast tied the game up at one. Montgomery seized the lead right back in the third on a two run homer by Nick Solak.

Chattanooga tacked on a run in the fourth, but the offense did not muster any more runs after that.

For Montgomery, starter Benton Moss notched a quality start by only surrendering two runs in six innings. Curtis Taylor earned only allowed one hit in relief over three innings while compiling five strikeouts.

Ryan Walker was 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Brent Rooker committed two errors in left field. Andrew Vasquez pitched two perfect innings out of the bullpen and struck out four batters

County Schools To Push Forward With Equity Effort; Magnet Schools To Get More Diversity With Lottery Change

The county schools will push forward with an equity effort that appeared to have been paused after board members Rhonda Thurman and Joe Smith in May said  they rejected the idea that county schools need to “racially and economically integrate.” An equity task force did not meet for several months and the schools did not move forward on hiring an outside consultant to help ... Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... Roy Exum: Dear Faux Pelini

It has been my experience that of all the tribes and herds of different people on earth, sports writers are among the funniest people of all. Oh, there isn’t anything real sexy about Villanova beating Georgetown or a baseball player hitting for the cycle. Now, if a player hits a single, double, triple and homer in that order, that’s “a natural cycle,” and that is kind of fun to ... (click for more)
