Dequam Fuqua, 20, Shot In Early Morning Shooting In East Ridge On Wednesday

One person was injured and two vehicles were hit during a shooting in East Ridge on Wednesday morning.

East Ridge Police received a call around 515 a.m. to Newcastle Apartments at 5700 Roper St. on a report of a shooting.

While en route, officers encountered the victim being driven to the hospital by private vehicle.

The victim is Dequan Fuqua, 20. Fuqua was shot in forearm, the shoulder, right flank, and was grazed on his chest. Three apartments other than Fuqua’s are known to have been struck by bullet(s), one of them vacant and unoccupied, the others occupied at the time of incident with bullets penetrating exterior walls and traveling into the interior of the apartment. Two vehicles were struck by bullets, both belonging to either Fuqua or his girlfriend. 

 The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the East Ridge Police Department.
